Bookmark in Yojimbo 1.1

I’ve made a minor update to Bookmark in Yojimbo, my AppleScript for sending bookmarks from Safari directly to Yojimbo. This update provides compatibility with Yojimbo 1.4, but you will need to get the Yojimbo 1.4.1 update (when available) in order for the “Bookmark & Edit” function to work properly. Other recent versions of Yojimbo may still be compatible.

LEGO Bros

My brother has built an Exoforce Claw Crusher - it’s the biggest Lego kit he’s built yet, and it is pretty cool. He took some pictures of it:

I also made a fancy computer rendering of the alternate docking cradle I made for the Star Wars B-Wing kit (unlike the default cradle, it makes the cockpit reasonably accessible by placing it at ground level):

Look here for more information on LDraw Mac shenanigans with Bricksmith, L3P, LGEO, and POV-Ray at a future date.

BlogBlank the Bookmarklet

Blogger provides a JavaScript bookmarklet called BlogThis. You put it in your browser’s toolbar and click it to display a little form for posting an article initialized with a link to the page you’re currently viewing.

I stripped out the code that inserts the initial link. This version displays a blank form suitable for posting little notes unrelated to any particular page. To use it, just drag this link to your toolbar: BlogBlank

Show Me the Money

The Federal Election Commission maintains a public database of political campaign contributions over $200 since 1980. You can search for contributors here. Pretty durned interesting what you can turn up!

He's No Dopamine

My good friend Dan has had a scholarly article published in an online peer-reviewed journal, Behavioral and Brain Functions. He is the principal author of “Examining impulsivity as an endophenotype using a behavioral approach: a DRD2 TaqI A and DRD4 48-bp VNTR association study.” I helped a wee bit.

Current Computer Projects

I’ve always got a number of little programming projects going in various states of disrepair. Here are a few that are just waiting for the finishing touches:

I hope to introduce some more interesting software throughout the year.

New Front Page

Now I can post links and other stuff here on the front page. This will not be updated often, and it is not a “blog,” even though it is powered by Blogger. It may, however, be an alternate channel for the sort of casual spam I do occasionally email to people. I will at least use it to point out noteworthy changes or additions to the site.

We’ve got an open commenting mechanism here, at least until it’s subverted by spam. For now you should be able to leave comments without logging in to a Blogger account or anything like that, but if you do post anonymously, please try to sign your message with your name or initials to help us recognize each other. (“We,” of course, are the elite: those who visit anoved.net.) As a spam deterrent, you may have to fill out a captcha when posting comments. You’ll just have to enter the word shown in a warped image.

Clicking the “Comment” link beneath each post will display a list of comments with the form for posting a new one. Click the big title that appears just above each post to view the post and all its comments on one page.

We can format our comments with a few simple HTML tags. Type <b> and </b> around something to make it bold. Italics can be had by using <i> and </i> instead. For a more contemporary touch, <strong> and <em> (for emphasis) can be used in place of <b> and <i>. Lastly, you can even make links to other web pages: <a href="http://anoved.net/2007/01/new-front-page.html">like this</a>. It will look like this.

Older posts will remain available through the monthly archives that are listed at the bottom of the front page.
